SEPANG: Popular American singer, composer and actor Usher Raymond IV is excited about performing in Malaysia for the first time.

The Dallas-born 32-year-old, better known as Usher, said he would be “having a day off” to see Kuala Lumpur’s popular destinations before his concert tomorrow.

Usher arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 2pm yesterday and emerged from the VVIP arrival hall half an hour later. He came via Eva Air flight BR 227 from Taipei.

“I’m sure we’ll all have a great time. Every concert I have is a different experience, and this one is no exception. I’m always happy to visit different places and entertain fans,” he said.

Usher rose to fame in the 1990s and after releasing his albums My Way (1997) and 8701 (2001). Each album sold more than eight million copies worldwide.

His success continued with Confessions (2004), which has sold over 20 million copies and was named the best selling R&B album of the 2000s.

Usher has won numerous awards for his musical work. Among them are five Grammy Awards, four World Music Awards, four American Music Awards, eight Soul Train Music Awards, and 19 Billboard Music Awards.

He released his sixth studio album Raymond V. Raymond on March 30.

The singer also performed with Stevie Wonder at a concert titled “We Are One” to celebrate the inauguration of US President Barack Obama last year
